I know what C$ stands for. That was not the point. The point was

//192.168.1.101://CARL/C$

which looks at least very uncommon. As I said: either speak to the
sharing host naming his IP or his UNC.

Btw. sharing the C:\ partition of a Windows[tm] host is some kind of
stupidity in my opinion. Windows[tm] user obviously like to live risky
