FC2: IBM ServeRAID bios upgrade issues

anyone have any experience with IBM ServeRAID BIOS
upgrades in FC2?

i'm trying to upgrade the BIOS on the IBM 4h ServeRAID card
in my X330 (secretly it's a Mylex controller). the utilities are
provided by IBM for RH 8.0 and 9, and i thought i'd give them
a whack on FC2 before i broke down and made the DOS floppies.

running the shell script as root, the process marches for a while,
then /uxlog/output.log gives the following:

Finding mount point for file '/tools/serveraid/srj4l71a.tmpdir/VDisk.vfd'...
