Hi,

i installed mplayer within 5 mins:

i downloaded the rpms from
http://sunsite.icm.edu.pl/pub/linux/greysector/mplayer.html - scroll down this
page until
    you find
    - mplayer-common
    - mplayer
    - mplayer-gui
    - default skin package
    ..click and download...
    also download lame-libs from
http://sunsite.icm.edu.pl/pub/linux/greysector/apt/7.3/RPMS.testing/
then copy-paste this line in the directory, where you copied all those files.
    rpm -Uvh mplayer-common-1.0pre5-2.i386.rpm mplayer-gui-1.0pre5-2.i386.rpm
mplayer-skin-default-1.4-1.noarch.rpm
    lame-libs-3.96-1.i386.rpm
change the last filename - lame-libs-3.96-1.i386.rpm to the version you
downloaded and then press enter. thats all. if
you need also the mplayerplugin, do not forget to rpm -Uvh
mplayer-1.0pre5-2.i386.rpm. now you are fine. with this, it
    workes for my installation perfectly.
    HTH
    Roger
