My FC2 installation of OpenOffice.org from tarball (not RPMs) broke in the last several days. It worked Friday. Then, over the weekend, I installed and then erased gnopernicus: 07/16/04 20:49:59 Installed: gnopernicus 0.8.1-2.i386 07/16/04 20:49:59 Dep Installed: gnome-speech 0.3.2-2.i386 07/16/04 20:49:59 Dep Installed: gnome-mag 0.10.10-2.i386 07/16/04 21:06:59 Erased: gnome-mag 0.10.10-2.i386 07/16/04 21:06:59 Erased: gnome-speech 0.3.2-2.i386 07/16/04 21:06:59 Erased: gnopernicus 0.8.1-2.i386 Today, Monday, I got the following error message when loading a document into OpenOffice.org: [ccurley@teckla ccurley]$ sh: line 1: lpc: command not found Fatal: Stack size too small. Use 'java -Xss' to increase default stack size. /usr/local/OpenOffice.org1.1.0/program/crash_report.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libpng.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory [1]+ Segmentation fault OpenOffice.org1.1.0/soffice I may have fixed the libpng issue by CDing to /usr/lib/ and making a symlink: ln -s libpng.so.3.1.2.5 libpng.so But that might have been the wrong thing to do. In any case, while I no longer get the missing library message, OOo still crashes, and I still get the other error messages. Re-installing gnopernicus makes no difference. [root@teckla root]# locate libpng /usr/lib/libpng.so /usr/lib/libpng.so.3 /usr/lib/libpng12.so.0 /usr/lib/libpng.so.2.1.0.15 /usr/lib/libpng.so.3.1.2.5 /usr/lib/libpng12.so.0.1.2.5 /usr/lib/libpng.so.2 ... [root@teckla root]# pre png libpng-1.2.5-5 libpng10-1.0.15-5 I don't know what's going on with lpc. That is a root-only program, at /usr/sbin/lpc, so a user shouldn't see it anyway. -- Charles Curley /"\ ASCII Ribbon Campaign Looking for fine software \ / Respect for open standards and/or writing?
