I boot into level 3, as virtually everything I do is console-based. When I'm building a kernel, I use "make menuconfig". The problem is that the display is corrupted. Checkboxes don't line up, text is overwritten, etc. I actually believe this started in Red Hat releases 8 and 9, though I don't remember which specifically.
Note that I've tried multiple video cards and machines, so I don't believe it is hardware related.
Other console apps (pine, cdp, etc.) seem to work fine.
Interestingly enough, if I used the "menuconfig" to configure a busybox (http://www.busybox.net), I see the exact same display problems.
And, if I run the config util via a terminal window in X, everything seems to be fine.
Any ideas out there as to what's happening? Emulation issue (these are brand new, complete installs)?
