Are you running a screen saver when it locks up? There is anecdotal
evidence that some of the GL screen savers will cause some systems to
lock up.

Have you run memtest on your system?

Is there any possibility temperature may have become an issue? I ask
this one from experience. I purchased a system and ran fine for well
over a year. Then started experiencing random lock ups. I suspected
temperature issues after checking a lot of other things including power
supplies and memory. I even added additional fans to the system which
seemed to help some but did not solve the problem. Finally I replaced
the motherboard, moving the CPU, memory, drives, etc to the new
motherboard. Have not had any problems since then.
