I have had success with an ov511-driven device by grabbing the
experimental 2.27 driver from:

  http://alpha.dyndns.org/ov511/download.html

and adding this line to /etc/modprobe.conf:

install ov511 /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install ov511 >/dev/null 2>&1 && /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install ovcamchip >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
