If you have an ssh/shell account at the new place, I can tell you what works a
hellova lot faster than FTP, both now and for when you are editing files,
with KDE stuff:

fish://username:password@site/subdirs

Kate is particularly fantastic since it can both load and save files natively
to fish:// (and other ioslave protocols), making it exactly as if you are
loading, editing and saving locally.

If you have ssh access to the new guy or the old guy you can use fish://.
