Symbios 53C1010 controller problem

I have a Tyan 2500 (Thunder) board with dual channel onboard Symbios
53C1010-33 controller. Currently the system is running RH 7.3 with
patches, upgrades & Kernel 2.4.10. When I try install Core 2, the
controller is found, but I get 'detaching/resetting' messages and the
installation stalls. I doubt that this is a hardware problem as this
system has been running for several years with no problems and no
hardware changes and still runs correctly under 7.3. I did notice that
Core 1/2 both seem to use a 'new' version of the Symbios driver, while I
use the older version in the sytems 2.4.10 kernel. I can't post the
error messages as I don't get far enought to capture them. I'd
appreciate it if anyone can shed some light on this problem.

Tnx

Cokey
