fc1 : Which mysql version?

Moving an install over from windows;

Confused over which rpm to select.
yum install gets me 3.23.58 
mysql.com has 4.0.20 (for 'Linux (x86, libc6))
and 'Linux x86 RPM downloads' for 4.0.20 Server and client.

The provided documentation with 3.23.58
mentions version 4 server and client as if it were the 
version for which the documentation exists.

I'm confused :-)

Any guidance please.

Standard Fedora core 1 installation.
