ATAPI CD Writer installation on FC1

I've installed an ATAPI CD writer on my second IDE channel, master position. I have hdc=ide-scsi as one of my kernel parameters, and the IDE-SCSI driver loads normally. However, I cannot figure out how to get to read CDs (I'm not worried about writing as of yet). I have tried setting the /dev/cdrom symlink to /dev/hdc, /dev/scd0, and /dev/sg0. When mounting with /dev/hdc, it refers me to mounting a SCSI device. With the others, it says that they are not valid block devices. So I don't know what to do. I don't know if any kernel module parameters or /etc/modules.conf changes need to be made. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here is my lsmod.
