Ok, then we had a misunderstanding.

Either it is possible to not upgrade but to install db42 / db42-devel in
parallel to the db4 of Fedora, which will not collide and override any
default db files or it is not possible. You might first try "rpm -ivh
--test db42 db42-devel". If that conflicts, and from your initial
posting I hardly assume it conflicts, you have only 2 possibilities: you
rebuild each and everything that is dynamically linked against the
Fedora db files - which is quite a lot! - or your try to compile the
subversion that comes with FC2

http://wftp.tu-chemnitz.de/pub/linux/fedora-core/updates/2/SRPMS/subversion-1.0.4-2.src.rpm

running "rpmbuild --rebuild subversion-1.0.4-2.src.rpm". Can't tell you
if that will work or if it needs further adjustments with the SRPM.
