Check out the wine project.


You may also want to check out Crossover office. It works for a number
of Windows programs. Just don't expect to use it with Quickbooks. I
found it less than acceptable for that use.


Depending on what you need to do there are many native linux
applications that can do what most of the Windows programs do.  You may
have better luck checking those out than getting MS programs to run
under linux.



Dos programs can be run very well with dosemu wine is only for w32 applications. DOSEMU can be found at http://www.dosemu.org/ other good dos emulators can surely be found at sourceforge.net
