Re: dialup using modem

Philippe: Somehow, I'm missing a step. I too can connect via the Network Device Control window by clicking on 'activate'. I added the modem-lights applet to my panel, but it doesn't work. I've read the all the documentation and tried various settings, but it just doesn't work. It will start the dialogue connect/cancel when I click on it, but it never connects, nor do any of the lights come on. One weird thing is that in my Network Device Control settings, under settings for the hardware, the modem shows up as ttyS4 -- if I boot into Windows, the modem shows up as Com4 which should correlate to ttyS3, according to what I've read. Any further thoughts?

Start / Systems Tools / Internet Configuration Wizard to configure your Internet connection.

Than you can add the modem-light applets to your panel. One click you're
connected / one click disconnected. (right click on Panel / Add to panel
/ Internet / Modem Lights)

Hope this helps,

Philippe
