Only some times.. One time, it was my xterm window which somehow gnome couldn't close

I have the sound-slot problem too. wonder if they're related.

Experienced the same thing. I can change workspaces using the keyboard
shortcuts but not the mouse and clicking on the panels.

Once I changed workspaces, it starts to shut down.

Not sure why. Had the same prob in Gnome 2.4 on RH9 too
