Perhaps you are chrooted and bind is not seeing the old files. Do you have some or all of these installed? # rpm -qa | grep bind system-config-bind-2.0.2-5 bind-libs-9.2.3-13 bind-chroot-9.2.3-13 bind-devel-9.2.3-13 bind-utils-9.2.3-13 bind-9.2.3-13 If you remove bind-chroot do things work differently? (rpm -e bind-chroot). If you install bind-chroot do things work differently? (up2date install bind-chroot) watch /var/log/messages while you restart the service.
