----- Original Message ----- From: Norman LeCouvie <lecouvie@xxxxxxx> >thanks Ben, >How do I tell which USB ports are active and what they are called? USB ports are only active when the device connected is trying to communicate. In the case of a PalmOS handheld, this is only when the device is plugged in and is trying to HotSync. When HotSyncing, the Palm will attach to /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttyUSB1 -- which port you have to connect to with tools like pilot-xfer and gpilotd can be different depending on your hardware and/or OS revision. OS4 devices use /dev/ttyUSB1, while OS5 devices use /dev/ttyUSB0. -- Ben Steeves ben.steeves@xxxxxxxxx GPG ID: 0xB3EBF1D9 http://www.metacon.ca/
