Laptop screen size

Hey

 

I’ve got a Compaq lte 5400 laptop ( yeah it’s old). Anyways the graphical display boots up fine, except that the screen is in 640x320. I know for a fact that the video card a (Cirrus Logic GD7543 Video Drivers) can support  800x600. I was wondering if there’s a setting I can change in the text mode to increase screen size.
