Create an aliased ethernet device by i.e. copying
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 to
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0:0 and edit that ifcfg-eth0:0
file. Change the device name entry and the IP setting. Finally restart
the network and voila the additional IP is up.
