Will you post the output of command:I've been using FC 1 for months, and I never had troubles browsing the local windows network (just a bit slow, indeed).
Now, with FC 2, I always get an empty windows when I select "Network Servers" from the main menu (I'm using GNOME, but it should not be different on KDE) and then "Windows Network".
What happened?
I can't even figure out what log to send to the list, but feel free to ask for it.
smbclient -L Contec -N where Contec has to be replaced by name of
your PC....
I'm not the original poster, but I've been having the same problem. smbclient works fine, but I can't browse the Windows network in Nautilus. Here's the output from the command you suggest:
$ smbclient -L DAVE -N Anonymous login successful Domain=[INTERNAL] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.0.3-5]
Sharename Type Comment --------- ---- ------- IPC$ IPC IPC Service (Dave's Samba Server) ADMIN$ IPC IPC Service (Dave's Samba Server) printer Printer printer Anonymous login successful Domain=[INTERNAL] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.0.3-5]
Server Comment --------- ------- VICKY
Workgroup Master --------- ------- INTERNAL VICKY $
Is that any help?
Dave...
2 questions:
1) is your windows network using ??? Win98, WinXP (HE or Prof)?? 2) will you post also your samba.conf??
My output of same command is : Sharename Type Comment --------- ---- ------- homes Disk Home Directories IPC$ IPC IPC Service (Samba Server) ADMIN$ IPC IPC Service (Samba Server) epson Printer Created by redhat-config-printer 0.6.x antonio Disk Home Directories Domain=[FEDORA] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.0.4-1.FC1]
Server Comment --------- -------
Workgroup Master --------- ------- WORKGROUP FEDORA
and my smb.conf is: # Global parameters [global] dns proxy = No log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log printing = cups server string = Samba Server socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192 os level = 255 null passwords = Yes username map = /etc/samba/user.map public = yes preferred master = Yes max log size = 50 allow hosts = 192.168.0.0/24 wins support = Yes
[homes] comment = Home Directories read only = No
[printers] comment = All Printers path = /var/spool/samba printable = Yes browseable = No
A stupid question on my side: is your Windows workgroup really defined as INTERNAL???
