No problem.  I agree it is ugly.  Have not tried building perl from
sources.  Been to busy building postgresql, apache, php, pgadmin,
imap-2002d, and a few other things getting a system ready to work on
that one.  :)  This particular UTF-8 problem is sort of a gnat in a
hurricane.

On top of that I am currently sorting through some odd virtual host
behavior with apache.  :(
