I've noticed when I put the monitor in "Standby mode" after 5 min, normally it shoud get in stand by after 5 MIN of inactivity (correct me if I am wron ) , it gets in STAND BY MODE after 5 min whether I'm workin on my pc or not !!
How or where did you configure it to sleep after 5 minutes? Are you using the machine in text mode, GNOME, or KDE?
It is absolutely impossible to help you if you don't provide details... we are not telepathic!
