Bridge utilities seg fault after upgrade to kernel 2.6.6-1.427

Just to save someone else some pain:

Bridging utilities (brctl) seem to seg fault on any
use after upgrading the kernel to 2.6.6-1.427. I
believe this renders bridging completely unusable
after this kernel upgrade.

Kernel changelogs show a bunch of bridging work
in the 2.6.6 -> 2.6.7 timeframe, and the bridge-util
changelogs show similar tracking changes.

Upgrading from the bridge-util version Fedora
ships (0.9.6, I believe) to the current
version 1.0.4 fixed the problems for me.
