Here is the methodology for those who do not wish to search for it: http://rhlinux.redhat.com/anaconda/manualtest.html To manually test CDs, you will need to use the dd command line utility. First insert the CD to be tested into your CD/DVD drive. Do NOT mount the drive. If you have a file manager that automatically mounts this device when you insert a disc, you will need to disable this feature. Now enter the command: dd if=/dev/cdrom bs=2k | md5sum This will return a 32 character string which is the checksum of the CD image.
