It appears to be foomatic. It seems something went bad with the drivers for the CLJ 4500 and 4550 in the upgrade. As to the title of this thread, at the point I started reading it, it looked like a similar problem to the one I had, I didn't notice it started with a rant or I would have started my own thread.
