I did the following things with a goal of installing Fedora Core 2
1. Downloaded fc2-i386-disc1.iso from a mirror site 2. Burned an image CD 3. Booted from the CD on a DELL Optiplex Gx1.
4. Got the screen, "Welcome to Fedora Core"
5. Was asked to choose a language
6. Was asked the keyboard type
7. Was asked for "installation method" - I chose local CDROM
8. Nothing happened for several minutes, the "welcome to Fedore Core"
remained on top and tab/arrow information on last line
9. Finally the following message appeared:
"No Fedore Core CD was found which matches your boot media. Please
insert the Fedora Core CD and press ok."
Any help is greatly appreciated.

This selection does not sound like what I see when installing. I don't remember being asked what method I wish to use for the install.
Try typing linux, then pressing enter. It sounds like you are installing in expert mode or another method, like askmethod.
I could be wrong about not seeing the install from CD, but I just clicked past it, if it exists.
Another possibility is the burn did not come out clean. Did you run the mediacheck on all discs before trying to install?
Also, it is a good idea to check the downloaded iso images with the MD5SUMS file that is with the disk. You download this file, then while in the directory with the ISO images, you type the below.
md5sum -c MD5SUM
This should run a test of what the images should checksum with.
Good luck getting past the problem.
