I have been trying for several days to complete a FC2 install, which will not boot into X. (Original thread is http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-list/2004-June/msg02194.html and http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-list/2004-June/msg02246.html ) Currently the system runs fine at init 3 but I am unable to configure X with system-configure-display, which hangs with a blank screen and loss of terminal connection and (after I kill with ^-alt-backspace) the error: "Window manager warning : Failed to open a connection to a session manager, so window positions will not be saved. SESSION_MANAGER environment variable not defined." "locate" shows the following system "agpgart" files: /lib/modules/2.6.5-1.358smp/build/include/linux/agpgart.h /lib/modules/2.6.5-1.358/build/include/linux/agpgart.h /usr/include/linux/agpgart.h /usr/src/linux-2.6.5-1.358/include/linux/agpgart.h /dev/agpgart No files in the /lib/modules/2.6.5xxx/kernel/drivers directories. My /etc/X11/xorg.conf file shows correct detection of my G550 video card and Planar PL1910 monitor, and includes the modules db3, extmod, fbdevhw, glx, record, freetype, type1 and dri /var/log/Xorg.0.log indicates loading of these modules and no error messages. So, can anyone help me with how to proceed so I can configure and boot into X. Do I need to patch or rebuild my kernel to build and load agpgart? In case it helps lspci info is given below.
