I have been trying to burn audio CDs on my DVD/CDRW burner and haven't been having much luck. I tried with both the original kernel and cdrecord tools that came with core 2 and with the updated versions in testing (kernel-2.6.6.1.422 and a27 cdrecord packages). I can read from the drive OK, but writing hangs before actually writing anything. I tried using both cdroast and k3b to manage cdrecord. I searched on google for a while and some people claim to have used this drive on linux. They were using ide-scsi, but from what I have read that isn't needed on 2.6 kernels. I have flashed the firmware to revision 1.0a. (That isn't the very latest, but 1.0b's installer only runs in windows, not DOS, so I don't have a convenient way to upgrade further.) The problem also happened with the original 1.05 firmware. I am not sure if I am looking at a kernel problem, a cdrecord problem, a drive problem or a configuration problem (e.g. using ide-scsi). This is the log saved by cdroast during my latest burn attempt: Calling: /usr/lib/xcdroast-0.98/bin/xcdrwrap CDRECORD dev= "ATAPI:1,1,0" gracetime=2 fs=4096k driveropts=burnfree -v -useinfo speed=4 -dao -eject -pad -audio "/tmp/.CD/track-01.wav" ... scsidev: 'ATAPI:1,1,0' devname: 'ATAPI' scsibus: 1 target: 1 lun: 0 Warning: Using ATA Packet interface.
