4 very low-level suggestions from a non-guru.

(1) Is there a floppy entry in /etc/fstab ?
If so delete it.

(2) Go to /lib/modules/<version>/drivers/block/
and delete or rename floppy.o .

(3) Turn off kudzu
        service kudzu off

(4) Find which init program does this:
        cd /etc/rc.d/init.d
        grep -r floppy .
If you find the culprit, comment out the command.
