Seem you had a problem with the downloaded patch. From what you
wrote above you did not have problems with it.

Got the same thing while I was in X. I switched to the console
and a 'rmmod radeon' later I was able to install the module.
Do an /sbin/lsmod on the console and see whether you have any
graf modules loaded. These will have to be removed before the
install will work.
