Heh, "destroy" might be a tad strong a word for the dual boot issue.  The 
the only reported problem so far is not being able to boot into Windows 
and is relatively easy to recover.   In fact, you can even mount your XP 
partition from Linux and see that everything is intact and there is no data 
loss.   The only issue is booting into Windows and there are several fixes 
for that.

Having said that, there may be a second issue (which may or may not
be related to the dual boot issue) causing some additional partition
table problems.   Could you please post your partition table.

# fdisk /dev/hda
x   (for expert mode)
p   (for print)
