Also as root, change the permissions on the mount point: chmod a+rwx /mnt/floppy (note that this gives anyone who has access to your machine the power to execute a file from the floppy or write over your data) change to suit your needs You won't be able to mount until next reboot as that is when linux reads the /etc/fstab file.
