The default location for the rpms is someplace in /usr and /etc, while the tarballs default is /usr/local. As the rpms may be a bit old, I'd rpm -e them, and run the homebrewed versions exclusively. Note that this doesn't stop you from doing the install with checkinstall, which will keep the rpm database uptodate and allow you to use rpm -e to remove it later if you should desire. >Hi list > >Scenario: > >FC1 >Mustek BearPaw 1200 CU flatbed scanner (GT-6801) USB >copied firmware to /usr/local/share/sane/gt68xx/PS1fw.usb >'chmod'ed PS1fw.usb to 755 >commented out override in /etc/sane.d/gt86xx.conf > >CORRECTION >>> When running XSane (not XScanning) I get (even as > root): > >Failed to open device 'gt68xx:/dev/usb/scanner0': Invalid argument > >Opening Kooka (bottom left panel): > >Problem: no scanner was found. > >scanimage -L picks up the scanner. >sane-find-scanner also picks up the scanner. > >Hmmm... what am I mising? > >Thanks in advance. > >Stuart -- Cheers, Gene "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo.
