The great majority of sites has *NO* need to look as the visions in some LSD trip, to strain your eyes with blue text on black background or to have puppets flashing and waving at you at any corner. Using the latest "technology" is very often just an excuse to pump up the web designer bill. Or to feel like an overpaid web designer. It just makes the site LESS useable, even if everybody ran MS Explorer. If the content or service doesn't really *NEED* to behave like Star Wars, boycott the site. Let their owners know. And tell Aunt Tillie to do the same. Without ever mentioning proprietary formats, patents freedom and so on. This alone would substantially cut the number of cases where not having a proprietary browser plugin is an issue.
