Suspend/Resume leaves network down

I'm causing the Suspend/Resume with lid events.  I close the lid and then open
it a few minutes later.  Here is the relevand piece /var/log/messages.

At 'Start Test', I shut the lid.  The network goes down and I get a 'beep.
At 'Mid Test (no network)', I have just opened the lid.  note the lpa0xFFFF
Next I remove/reinsert my network card and the network comes up. Note
the changed value for lpa.

Here is my ifcfg-eth0
