I've been struggling with my sound card not working. Please reference the bug for the details:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=123631
Anyway, just now I was using VMware with an XP session in it and just for kicks I enabled sound from with-in XP and lo and behold I can hear sound if the volume is turned all the way up everywhere but just barely! I have amplified speakers and those are turned all the way up too. Normally that should be loud enough to blast me off my chair.
Is there possibly an issue with the speaker jack being set to a line-out or something like that? My sound is built-in and I have only three audio jacks (line-in, microphone and speaker).
I seem to recall that some sound cards can have the line-out double as the speaker out with a software switch to change between them.
Is that a possibility here?
