This probably means that you don't have raw1394 support in the kernel or that you haven't loaded the raw1394 module.

I had that problem too. (I have a digital camcorder that needs to use this driver) The raw1394 module doen't install by default (for some reason). So I simply added it to my /etc/rc.d/rc.local file by inserting a 'modprobe raw1394'. Now when I reboot the system it loads automatically.
Wow, I'd hoped that FC2 would support my digital camcorder *better* than FC1. Instead, it doesn't support it at all.
Crap.
Any idea when the kernel will support firewire? I'm just *dreaming* of the day I can toss Win2K.

What about using the insmod raw1394, does that one work?? I don't run the 2.6 kernel yet, so I don't know if that command works. I don't intend to goto 2.6 until all the problems are resolved. (I would have thought that this would all have been done with the 2.5 kernels)

So either try your chances adding firewire support as documented there or wait for the kernel update.
