2. cdrecord doesn't work at all. Even the simple command cdrecord -scanbus fails. I've never had any problems with cdrecord before, going back to Redhat 7.1
Did you try it as root?
Did you want help with these issues, or are you just going back to RH7?
I think he means he hasn't had that problem since 7.1.
