Hi,
Does anyone know if the problem wrt the Asus P4P800 main boards is limited to installation only?
I have the normal problem with the pc rebooting when trying to boot off the install disk, but could install using a borrowed motherboard this weekend.
This would obviously be a waste of time if the Asus board still gave problems when I put it back in the pc.

Are you aware of the problem outlined at bugzilla? If not, here is the link.

Although not from experience, I believe it is not kernel related from what I have read. I haven't tried to MB switch, but maybe a simple hard drive switch might work. To me, it just isn't worth all that aggrevation. As you will read from bugzilla, there isn't a clear understanding of what the problem actually is related to, but some have tried different install methods. I believe that kernel 2.6.5 will work on these boards and I suggest the SATA (libata) patch. As it stands, I am not sure if 2.6 kernel uses this driver or not.
