Fixing broken GNOME menus...

I've finally figured out how to fix the broken gnome menus
that cause duplicate directory entries to appear under (for example)
Preferences...

edit /etc/xdg/menus/preferences.menu
comment out/delete the entries "<LegacyDir>/usr/share/gnome/apps</LegacyDir>"
and "<LegacyDir>/etc/X11/applnk</LegacyDir>".

Log out and back in again (actually in my case, it was an unexpected
reboot, but I'm assuming a simple login cycle will do it- btw, boo to having
to login cycle for this to take affect).

BTW, these xml files reference version 1.0 of the spec, but the freedesktop
site only contains up to version 0.8.
