I thought the CPU fan starting wasn't under BIOS or any other control on a regular main board. Laptops have their own peculiarities, so I'm ignoring them. Starting a box results in the fan spinning up almost instantly, even before I get a BIOS signature displayed on the monitor. We may be able to monitor CPU and other fan speeds, but is there an actual control mechanism to turn it on or off?
