I have the same problem. I can't get sound to work on my hardware, not with Knoppix 3.4. I hesitate to install the buggy FC2 release because I don't want to lose my boot partition (even IF I could succeed to boot it all the way on my P4P800 motherboard), but I suspect that the sound problems are the same, since it seems to be a driver problem.
