Did you read the instructions and documentation about mail() function on
www.php.net?

But that remote Sendmail is working proper independent from your PHP
scripting? Does it require authentification or does it relay based on
IPs?

Insufficient input data from your side. You would have to be more
specific to get a proper answer. First start reading the PHP docs about
mail() function and compare it with your script. Then check the maillog
of the Sendmail you are trying to use.
