Once upon a time, Rodolfo J. Paiz <rpaiz@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> said: > Indeed this is old. Red Hat is built "exclusively from Free Software", a > category in which MySQL no longer fits. Wrong. MySQL is released under the GNU GPL and is "Free Software" in all meanings of the words. The problem is that several other things use the MySQL client library, and their licenses are incompatible with the GPL. The MySQL client library used to be licensed under the LGPL, which was compatible with the other licenses. So, if Fedora shipped the GPL MySQL client library, they couldn't ship other things that link against it, which would make more people mad. -- Chris Adams <cmadams@xxxxxxxxxx> Systems and Network Administrator - HiWAAY Internet Services I don't speak for anybody but myself - that's enough trouble.
