Okie, why are you tracking Fedora if you want to roll your own everything?  
Why not move to Gentoo?  Fedora Development (aka Rawhide) has xorg package 
perfectly functional and integrated into the RPM world.

I never had a pango problem as I recall, I dunno.

I had nothing to do with it, they are FEDORA kernel packages.

My life has been different.... I tracked FEDORA DEVELOPMENT on several of my 
machines.  It was not pain free, BUT IT WAS NOT SIX MONTHS OF TOOTHACHE.

Maybe, possibly, there is a lesson there for you.
