The man page for sources.list says ============================================ The format of each line is: type uri args. The first item, type, determines the format for args. ============================================ Unfortunately, it never says what values "type" can take, and the dozen or so examples all have type "deb". [How can a person writing a man-page use a term like "type" without ever explaining what the possible types are?] However, I've copied the entries from my /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources to /etc/apt/sources.list edited so that there are just 2 items in each line, the first being "rpm", ie ============================================= rpm http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/fedora/linux/core/1/i386/os/ rpm http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/1/i386/ #rpm http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/testing/1/i386/ ============================================= Assuming this is what one has to do, I find it amazing that it is not stated clearly in the synaptic docs. -- Timothy Murphy e-mail (<80k only): tim /at/ birdsnest.maths.tcd.ie tel: +353-86-2336090, +353-1-2842366 s-mail: School of Mathematics, Trinity College, Dublin 2, Ireland
