APM/ACPI

I installed fedora in my laptop, an acer aspire 1355lc... and now, when I
want to switch the computer off, it reboots... in other words, it doesn't
shut down...

This problem doesn't happen with my XP (I have dual boot)... I think it
could be due to the APM/ACPI... for I think XP uses ACPI, and my fedora is
using APM.

The problem, then, is that when I boot with acpi=on, the booting process
freezes, at some points (they vary), giving me the same printout: Socket
status: 30000006, after trying to find some PCI stuff (they also vary)...

The question then is pretty simple: how can I switch off my computer?
