having big time to get r8169 based gigabit ethernet cards to work

hi,

I have big troubles to get my r8169 based gigabit ethernet cards to work
with my fedora core 1 machines.

The card is well recognised and configured, but the transfer rates are a
catastrophy, the moreover with NFS transfers.

I read many messages about this over various mailing lists, it seems due
to a buffer trouble in the driver code (see the 2.4.26 kernel changelog
: [netdrvr r8169] fix TX descriptor overflow).
As I tryed to make myself a new kernel from scratch with a 2.4.26
sources from kernel.org, I can testimony that the issue seems corrected
with this kernel ... no more crappy transfer rates that seems made
through a 10 years old modem.

I guess I'm not the one having such troubles since the r8169 based cards
seem to spread rapidly amoung the new motherboard with gigabit ethernet
included, so I would be a shame not to change the code in the fedora
kernel sources and not release a new kernel that incorporate the fix.

anyone ?

cordialy
