Though if your using the very latest released version of wine this
system has changed completely. I think drives may be defined differently
or not at all. Wine now uses sym links to various bits of hardware. I
haven't figured it all out yet myself so It might be worth posting this
question to the wine-users list.
If your worried about the extra traffic you shouldn't it's only about 50
messages a day. A LOT less then this list.
