As far as I know Paul, Fedora will be sticking with the main Mozilla web browser for the foreseeable future. This is mainly due to the fact that Firefox is meant to be a very lightweight client and not a full featured browser like Mozilla is, and Firefox still hasn't reached a 1.0 version as of yet. Its still too new.
Hope that helps

I do not know where you get your information. I cannot speak for the entire organization or strategic plans, but the general feeling that I get from the other developers is that they are positive about the direction that Firefox and Thunderbird is heading.
Technical blockers of both applications are the lack of automatic import capability. If such capability existed, they could possibly replace Mozilla and it may be possible to remove mozilla. Also applications that depend on mozilla-nss and other mozilla components would need to be adapted to work with the equivalent in firefox.
Keep in mind that even if these technical challenges are solved, this is no guarantee that Firefox/Thunderbird will become the new standards. This is a decision that the desktop team still has to make in the future.
Fedora Extras Firefox has already obtained approval to use the "official build only" trademark enforced official Firefox icon, and we are currently asking for permission to use the same for the thunderbird theme. I personally really like the Firefox icon, but have not yet seen the thunderbird theme. In any case either could be replaced later by a Bluecurve replacement should the Fedora Project decide to do so.
